OUR APPROACH
How We Work
Our approach begins with understanding the child, then building confidence and independence through a structured developmental journey.
The TEMMA Framework
The 5-Phase Development Journey
Children grow gradually over time. The TEMMA framework supports this development through five phases, each strengthening different aspects of thinking, confidence, and independence.
Each phase represents a stage in a child's learning journey.
Phase 1 — Regulation & Foundations
The journey begins by helping children develop emotional safety, curiosity, and foundational learning habits.
During this phase, children strengthen their ability to regulate emotions, explore ideas, and feel confident engaging with learning experiences.
Phase 2 — Core Literacies
Children begin strengthening essential skills such as reading, numerical thinking, and questioning.
This phase builds the foundational tools that allow children to explore knowledge more independently and express their ideas with greater clarity.
Phase 3 — Structured Thinking & Independence
As confidence grows, children develop organisation, reasoning, and executive functioning skills.
They begin taking greater ownership of their learning, learning how to structure ideas and approach challenges with more independence.
Phase 4 — Applied Mastery
Learning becomes more purposeful and connected to real-world thinking.
Children engage in deeper problem-solving, meaningful projects, and experiences that allow them to apply their knowledge in practical ways.
Phase 5 — Autonomy, Enterprise & Purpose
In the final phase, learners begin operating with greater independence and responsibility.
They develop leadership, initiative, and purpose-driven thinking, using their abilities to create meaningful contributions to the world around them.
What This Means for Your Child
When learning environments recognise how children think and grow, important changes begin to happen.
Over time, children develop not only knowledge, but also the confidence and independence needed to continue learning throughout their lives.
WHO WE SUPPORT
Does this feel familiar?
Some children are curious, capable, and full of ideas — yet learning does not always feel easy for them.
They may think deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and notice details others miss. At the same time, they may feel frustrated when certain tasks feel harder than expected.
At TEMMA, many children have remarkable strengths alongside real learning challenges.
- Your child understands ideas quickly but struggles with routine tasks
- They ask thoughtful questions but avoid certain kinds of work
- They show strong abilities in some areas but feel stuck in others
- They are creative and curious but sometimes appear distracted or forgetful
- They become overwhelmed in busy or demanding environments
- They feel frustrated when their effort does not seem to match their results
When strengths and challenges exist together, children often need an environment that understands both.
Children We Often Support
TEMMA Learning Centre supports children who show strong curiosity, creativity, and intellectual potential but may also experience challenges in certain aspects of learning and development.
Many of these children are described as High Potential. This means they have significant strengths while also experiencing differences that affect how they process information, organise ideas, or manage attention and emotions.
These differences may include challenges related to attention, organisation, sensory sensitivity, or expressing ideas clearly.
With thoughtful support and understanding, these children often rediscover their confidence, curiosity, and ability to engage with learning in meaningful ways.
When TEMMA may NOT be the right fit
TEMMA Learning Centre is designed for children who benefit from a thoughtful and supportive learning environment.
Our focus is not on quick results or short-term fixes. Instead, we work to help children understand themselves, rebuild confidence, and develop meaningful ways of learning and growing over time.
Because of this approach, TEMMA may not be the right fit for every situation.
TEMMA is suitable when:
- Your child is misunderstood, not just weak in studies
- You want long term development, not shortcuts
- You are open to parent collaboration
- You believe strengths matter as much as challenges
