A Thoughtful Approach to Learning
Every child learns in their own way. When learning experiences recognise how a child thinks, feels, and explores ideas, confidence and curiosity begin to grow.
At TEMMA Learning Centre, our approach begins with understanding the child. By recognising each child's strengths, sensitivities, and thinking patterns, we create learning experiences that support both their abilities and their challenges.
Rather than focusing only on immediate results, we focus on long-term development — helping children gradually build confidence, independence, and deeper thinking.
The TEMMA Framework
The 5-Phase Development Journey
Children grow gradually over time. The TEMMA framework supports this development through five phases, each strengthening different aspects of thinking, confidence, and independence.
Each phase represents a stage in a child's learning journey.
Phase 1 — Regulation & Foundations
The journey begins by helping children develop emotional safety, curiosity, and foundational learning habits.
During this phase, children strengthen their ability to regulate emotions, explore ideas, and feel confident engaging with learning experiences.
Phase 2 — Core Literacies
Children begin strengthening essential skills such as reading, numerical thinking, and questioning.
This phase builds the foundational tools that allow children to explore knowledge more independently and express their ideas with greater clarity.
Phase 3 — Structured Thinking & Independence
As confidence grows, children develop organisation, reasoning, and executive functioning skills.
They begin taking greater ownership of their learning, learning how to structure ideas and approach challenges with more independence.
Phase 4 — Applied Mastery
Learning becomes more purposeful and connected to real-world thinking.
Children engage in deeper problem-solving, meaningful projects, and experiences that allow them to apply their knowledge in practical ways.
Phase 5 — Autonomy, Enterprise & Purpose
In the final phase, learners begin operating with greater independence and responsibility.
They develop leadership, initiative, and purpose-driven thinking, using their abilities to create meaningful contributions to the world around them.
